Kindergarten and First Grade Registration:  Kindergarten registration packets are available in the office.   The parent information meeting for parents of incoming first grade students will be on Tuesday, May 6th in the music room at 6:30 p.m.  Vision and hearing screenings for incoming first grade students will be the week of May 12-16th.  On Friday, May 30th our current first grade students will stay home, and the teachers will spend the morning (9:30-12:00) with next year’s first grade class.

Science NECAP Assessments:  Students in grade 4 and grade 8 will be taking the Science NECAP Assessment during the week of May 12th.  Parent letters will go home at the beginning of next week with the testing schedule and more information about the assessment.  This is the first year that the state has required the science assessment.  It was piloted last May for test validation purposes; we received no student data from that pilot.  This year’s results will be returned to students and the school during the fall of 2008.  This will be an annual spring assessment.

Parent Placement Input:  Just a last minute reminder, that parent placement letters were sent out in early April.  Next week administration and staff will begin meeting by grade level to determine homeroom placement for the 2008-2009 school year.  If you wish to provide input on your child’s placement for next year, the letter needs to be delivered to the school office a.s.a.p.
